Privacy Policy

Effective 7 October 2026

My Battery Guys ("we", "us") repairs, rebuilds, and sells power-tool battery packs. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Information we collect

  • Contact details you give us - name, phone number, email address, and shipping address - when you request a quote, send in a battery, or place an order.
  • Service details about the equipment you send us: brand, model, serial number, condition, and the work performed.
  • Order information from marketplaces where you buy from us, such as eBay. When you purchase through eBay, eBay shares your order and shipping details with us so we can fulfil the order.
  • Website analytics (Google Analytics 4) describing how visitors use this site - pages viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and which site or ad sent you here.
  • Advertising click identifiers - gclid, gbraid and wbraid from Google, and the utm_ campaign tags on a link - when you arrive from an advertisement, so we can tell which advertising produced an enquiry.

Advertising and measurement

We advertise on Google. Three things follow from that, and this is all of them:

  • Conversion tracking. When you send the form on this site we tell Google Ads that an enquiry happened, together with the identifier of the click that produced it. That is how we learn which advertising is worth paying for.
  • Enhanced conversions. Where you have allowed targeted advertising, the email address and phone number you typed into the form are hashed in your browser - turned into an irreversible fingerprint - and sent to Google with the conversion so it can match the enquiry to the click. We do not send the address or the number themselves for this purpose, and where you have not allowed it we send nothing of the kind at all, now or later.
  • Remarketing. Google may use the advertising cookies set on this site to show you our advertising elsewhere. Turning targeted advertising off in Your Privacy Choices stops it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the Google measurement described above.

Cookies and local storage

  • mbg_privacy - your own privacy choices, kept in your browser for 12 months so we do not have to ask again. Nothing else is in it.
  • mbg_first_touch - a signed record of the advertising click you arrived on (the click id, the campaign tags and the page you landed on, and nothing else from the address you came in on). It is set for 90 days, which is the window Google matches a click in, and it is readable only by our own server. Where your region requires consent, it is not written before you give it.
  • mbg_attribution in your browser's local storage - the same click and campaign information, kept so that an enquiry sent days later is still credited to the advertisement that produced it. Written only where you have allowed advertising storage.
  • Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies (_ga, _gcl_* and similar), set by Google under the consent state you have chosen.

Nothing on this site depends on any of them. The forms, the prices and every page work identically with all of it switched off.

Your privacy choices

Use - on this page and in the footer of every page - to turn analytics and targeted advertising on or off at any time. Nothing is pre-selected where we ask, and refusing is exactly as easy as accepting.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland - or if we cannot tell where you are - analytics and advertising stay switched off until you say otherwise.

Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or an extension sends it, we treat it as an opt-out from targeted advertising and from advertising use of your personal information: Google is told so on every page you open, no hashed contact details are ever sent, and restricted data processing is switched on. We do not record it as a preference - it is re-read on every visit, and it overrides an advertising opt-in for as long as your browser sends it.

How we use it

  • To complete repairs, rebuilds, and orders, and to return your equipment.
  • To contact you about your job - quotes, approvals, status, and warranty.
  • To keep service history, so we can honour warranties and diagnose repeat faults.
  • To meet our tax and accounting obligations.

Google services and Google user data

This site does not offer "Sign in with Google" and never asks you for access to your Google Account. We receive no information from your Google Account.

We run our own business on Google services, and our order-management system connects to them on our own behalf. This is everything it does with them:

  • Gmail (our own mailbox). Our business email, [email protected], is a Google Workspace mailbox. Our system connects to it through the Gmail API, with access our Workspace administrator granted, and only to mail sent to or from the mybatteryguys.com domain. It reads the emails you send us, stores a copy (sender, recipients, subject and text) in our database alongside your job or order, labels them in the mailbox, and sends our replies from that address.
  • Automated sorting of email. To decide whether an incoming email is a customer enquiry, a supplier message or something else, its sender, subject and text are passed to an automated language-model service.
  • Google Sheets. Read-only access to spreadsheets our business keeps itself. It does not write to any spreadsheet.
  • Google Cloud Storage. Photos and files - for example photos of the equipment you send us - are stored in a storage bucket we control.
  • Google Ads API. Read-only reports on our own Google Ads account - what our campaigns cost and the clicks and conversions they produced. It reads no other advertiser's account.

Information we receive through Google's APIs is used only for the purposes above. We do not sell it, we do not use the content of emails for advertising, and we share it only with the service providers named in this policy.

My Battery Guys' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Payment information

We do not collect or store your card details. Marketplace and payment processors handle payments and share only what we need to fulfil your order, such as the amount paid and the address to ship to.

Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share it only with parties needed to do the work: shipping carriers to deliver your battery, marketplaces such as eBay where the order was placed, payment processors, Google (as described above) and the email-sorting service described above. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Retention

We keep customer and service records for as long as needed to support warranties and meet legal obligations. You may ask us to delete your details where we are not required to keep them.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask for corrections, or ask us to delete it - including the advertising records described above. Email or text us using the details below, saying what you would like done and giving us enough to find your records (the phone number or email address you contacted us on). We answer these ourselves; there is no form to fill in and no account to create, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Security

Customer and order data is held on systems we control, protected by access controls and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.
